I titled this post "Blogger Sucks!" so it will be indexed by google & added to the "About 58,000 results" for a search on "Blogger Sucks". Maybe it'll be the post that nudges it up to 59,000 results...
Anyway here's my rant:
I've been using Blogger for a few weeks now... & I'm kind of not impressed. I chose it because it's easy to use & easy to integrate adsense. I thought it was a mature platform & assumed that, because it's a google product, it would be well-designed. Hahahaha. Ha.
Here's a short list of things I find annoying. Are you listening, Google?-- When you add a photo in the middle of a post, when the upload window closes, Blogger moves you back to the top of your post, so you have to scroll back to where you were! Ya, kind of annoying.
Same thing happens when you add a link. How ridiculous is this? It's like if MS Word jumped you to the top of a document everytime you underlined or bolded or otherwise formatted something. WTF!
-- Often when you add a photo, the upload window opens, showing you the last items you uploaded. That's great, if you want to insert the same photo again! If you don't, because, say, you want to upload a NEW photo (duh!), you have to scroll up to the top of the window, cuz that's where the "upload" button is. Why they didn't put the button in the left panel god only knows. Oh, & in case you're wondering, no, you can't use keyboard shortcuts to jump to the top of the window.
-- When you preview a post (using some browsers), the preview opens in the same window as the edit window (even if you try to use CTRL+ or SHIFT+). If you want to preview & edit at the same time, you may need to open multiple windows & cut & paste the addresses..
-- If you're editing a post when you lose your internet connection, Blogger helpfully pops a message telling you that it couldn't autosave. Problem is, you can't close the window, which means you can't cut & paste your post, which means you may lose some of your update.
-- I added a "popular tags" (labels) widget at the top of my blog. Good thing "Funny appears near the right margin, because tags on the Left side don't work. I've tested this on 3 machines.
And my favorite bug...
-- Sometimes, when you edit a post or add more text to an existing post, the new text is impossible to read. It looks like highlighted white text on a white background. The thing I love about this bug is that the hidden formatting that causes it can't always be erased by cutting & pasting the problem text into a text file & then re-pasting into the edit window. I've spent what seems like hours now fixing this problem countless times. And, ya, I have the same issue on 3 machines.
Seriously? What kind of grade school interns are testing this code? For a company whose employees reportedly have to build a computer out of an old Casio watch, it's kind of embarrassing...

[Update: After I posted this, Jen discovered a "remove formatting" button (Tx) which fixes the white on white bug... one down, dozens to go..]
