Hostel Quetzal is a fantastic hostel. It has won several awards, including HostelBookers Award for Excellence 2010. If we could afford it, Jen & I would probably live here. We've joked about dropping by sometime to see if we can crash one of their parties, or one of their dinners, prepared by a professional chef!
It is located East of Yaxchilan Avenue, North of Coba (the H on the map below), right around the corner from another fine hostel (Hostel Haina).
The private rooms are nicely appointed, and the furnishings give this hostel the aura of a European villa.

Location is everything. We're just 1 block from Parque de las Palapas, the largest public park in Cancun where you'll find cultural and social events almost everyday. We're one block from Yaxchilan Avenue where you'll find the best bars and restaurants in town. 3 blocks from the Tulum Avenue, Cancun "main street". From there you can take public transport to the beaches, Playa del Carmen, Tulum or to the ferry to Isla Mujures. The Cancun bus station is also some 5 blocks from the hostel.
